What is ABA Therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis)?

Applied Behavior Analysis is a scientifically validated approach to helping people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It was championed by B.F. Skinner. The best definition of ABA was written by Baer, Wolf, & Risley in 1968:

“Applied Behavior Analysis is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior“

Like most care providers, this scientific approach and philosophy is at the core of how we help individuals within the Autistic Spectrum. Where we are different is in how we involve you, the parents of the individual we are helping. We strive to educate and illuminate you, the parent, in ABA to an extent that you are better prepared to be an active participant in your child’s care and progress. That, along with the stellar care of the Changing Lives BAS team is a powerful combination.
